Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at the first consultation?

During your first visit, we’ll review your health history and discuss your treatment goals. I’ll conduct a short assessment to ensure the treatment is safe and effective for your needs. This is a great time to ask any questions you might have!

Do I have to undress?

You only need to undress to your level of comfort. Sheets and blankets are used to ensure your privacy at all times, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered. I do ask that you always keep your underwear on for sanitary reasons.

Can I request modifications to the treatment?

Absolutely. Open communication is key. If you prefer lighter or deeper pressure, or if you feel uncomfortable at any time, let me know, and we can adjust the treatment.

Do you direct bill to insurance?

I do not offer direct billing. However, I’ll provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 4 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.

How can I pay for my session?

I accept cash, credit, debit, e-transfers. Payment is due at the end of each session.

Does massage therapy hurt?

Massage should not be painful. While some techniques may feel intense, they should always feel “good pain” and not sharp or uncomfortable. I’ll always check in with you during treatment.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes! As an RMT, I’m registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and fully insured.

How do you ensure hygiene and cleanliness?

I follow strict infection prevention and control guidelines, including cleaning and disinfecting all equipment and surfaces between clients.

Do you offer prenatal massage?

Yes! Prenatal massage is tailored to support the health and comfort of expecting mothers. I use special techniques and positioning to ensure safety.

Can I combine massage therapy with other treatments?

Yes, massage therapy complements many other treatments like physiotherapy, osteopathic or chiropractic care. I can collaborate with your other healthcare providers as needed.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

Massage therapists can assess and treat without a doctor’s referral. However, some health insurers may require a doctor’s referral before they authorize coverage of fees, while others only require a phone call.

Do I tip my therapist?

Tips are more commonplace for massages in a spa setting.  In Ontario we are regulated by the same Government Health Act as Doctors and Dentists whom we conventionally do not tip.  It is not expected that you tip your massage therapist either.  Some clients still like to show their appreciation through a gratuity which is always a kind gesture, just never expected.  You will receive the same level of excellence in care whether you choose to tip your therapist or not.

Please keep in mind that the greatest tip you can provide your therapist is a referral. Your trust and confidence is the most appreciated form of gratuity. Thank you for referring a friend, family member or colleague..
